Bayern Beats Bratislava And Advances To Champions League Playoffs

|

Bayern Munich fulfilled their duty in the last match of the Champions League league phase with a 3-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava at the Allianz Arena. With an attacking approach and almost total control of the match, the Germans had no major problems in beating their opponents, thus securing their passage to the next stage of the tournament. However, the combination of other results did not allow them to qualify directly to the round of 16, so they will have to play in the playoffs to remain in the competition.

Bavarian Domain From The Beginning

From the first minutes, Bayern showed their superiority. With a lineup that presented some modifications compared to their last match in the Bundesliga, the team led by Vincent Kompany came out with the intention of imposing conditions quickly. High pressing and passing speed were key to take control of the game.

The first goal came early, when in the eighth minute, Joshua Kimmich sent in a pinpoint cross from the right flank. Thomas Müller, showing his eye for goal, headed the ball home to make it 1-0. With the lead, Bayern continued to dominate and generate chances, but Bratislava remained organized in defense and prevented the deficit from widening before the break.

Despite the Bavarian team's control, Slovan had their best chance in the 26th minute. Tigran Barseghyan broke down the right flank and was one-on-one with Manuel Neuer, who made a great save to prevent the equalizer. Minutes later, Nino Marcelli tried to take advantage of the rebound, but his shot was cleared before crossing the goal line, keeping the Germans in the lead.

A Second Half With More Goals

After the break, Bayern maintained their dominance and came out determined to put the game to bed. In the 54th minute, Leroy Sané had a clear opportunity to extend the lead after receiving a great pass from Michael Olise, but his shot was deflected by the Slovan Bratislava goalkeeper, keeping the scoreboard uncertain.

However, Bayern's persistence was rewarded in the 63rd minute. Jamal Musiala, who had come on minutes earlier, broke down the left and sent a precise cross into the box. There, Harry Kane rose above the defense and with a powerful header beat the goalkeeper to make it 2-0. This goal gave more peace of mind to the Munich team, which continued to attack with intensity.

The third goal came in the 84th minute, when Kingsley Coman received a pass inside the box and finished with class to make it 3-0. With the game all but settled, Bayern slowed down, allowing Slovan to have more possession in the final minutes.

Bratislava Scores in the Final Minutes

When it seemed that the match would end with a comfortable 3-0 win for Bayern, Slovan Bratislava managed to pull one back in the 90th minute. Marko Tolić took advantage of a defensive lapse and with a well-placed shot beat Neuer, scoring the goal of honor for his team. Despite this own goal, Bayern's victory was never in jeopardy.

With this victory, the German team closed the league phase with 15 points, securing its place in the playoffs, where it will seek a ticket to the round of 16. Bayern will now focus on their next challenge in the Bundesliga, where they will face Holstein Kiel in their next match.
