Trail Blazers vs Bulls Forecast | November 19, 2025

|

Portland and Chicago come into Wednesday's game with the feeling of a "hinge game": they are in the middle of their conferences and a win here could set the tone for the next stretch of the season. The Bulls are coming off a blow of authority on a difficult court, while the Blazers are trying to rebuild their image after several close defeats. The context invites an intense duel... but not necessarily a runaway score.

Match Context and Recent Head-to-Heads

The record between the two teams clearly favors Portland when playing at home. In 36 official meetings, the Trail Blazers have won 23 times, compared to 13 wins for the Bulls. The averages also reflect the slight superiority of the home team: they score 107.78 points per game against Chicago's 104.08, for a combined average total of 211.86 points.

The most recent meeting, played on April 4, 2025 in Chicago, was a close one, with the Bulls winning 118-113 in a tight finish. That victory snapped a streak of five straight wins by Chicago over Portland, albeit with very different squads than today.

Now the script changes: the Blazers return home with more strength in rebounding and a figure like Jrue Holiday, who provides defensive leadership and order in hot moments. Chicago, on the other hand, arrives with a fine-tuned offense, but with many ups and downs in the backcourt, especially away from home.

Portland Trail Blazers: Lots of Volume, Little Containment

Portland has a 6-7 record and a pretty clear identity: high tempo, aggressive offense and a defense that suffers more than it should. They average 121.5 points per night on 45.3% shooting from the field, solid offensive numbers for a team that doesn't give up shots.

In their last loss to Dallas (138-133), the team's DNA was on display:

  • 46/113 from the field (40.7%)
  • 14/47 in three-pointers (29.8%)
  • 53 total rebounds, 22 offensive!

The problem is not generating shots, but the selection and efficiency in certain stretches. Even so, that dominance on the boards is one of Portland's greatest weapons, and even more so playing at home.

Defense, on the other hand, is the big weakness. The Blazers concede 122.2 points per game, with opponents shooting nearly 49% from the field and over 35% from the perimeter. Add to that 23.8 fouls per night, giving away too many trips to the free throw line. The positive note is that they cause 17.3 turnovers per game, giving them easy points in transition.

Shaedon Sharpe is one of the team's thermometers: in that game against Dallas he scored 36 points and had 6 assists, although with low efficiency (12/32). If he sharpens his shooting, Portland's offensive ceiling will go up several notches.

Chicago Bulls: Offense That Frightens, Defense That Doubts

Chicago comes in with a 7-6 record and a very defined profile: one of the most productive offenses in the league... and a defense that allows almost as much as it scores. The Bulls average 121.7 points per game (fifth best in the NBA) on an excellent 48.1% shooting from the field, 39% from three-point range and 80.9% from the free throw line.

The offensive numbers are impressive:

  • 0 rebounds per game
  • 387 assists on the season (top 8 in the league).
  • Joyful game, with a lot of ball circulation and volume from the perimeter.

Their last victory, 130-127 on Denver's court, was a sample of their virtues: 47.1% shooting from the field (48/102), 19 three-pointers made in 53 attempts and 31 assists. When the ball moves like that, they are very difficult to contain.

The problem is the other side of the court. The Bulls allow 121.9 points per game, with opponents shooting 47.3% from the field and 36% from three-point range. They also force only 12 turnovers per game, which means they don't generate too many advantages from defense. Away from home, their lack of consistency at the back is even more noticeable.

Keys to the game: High Pace, But No Crazy Scoring

At first glance, two teams that score around 121 points and allow more than 121 points invite you to think of an offensive festival. However, the history between the two and some recent trends point to a somewhat more contained script.

In their 36 previous meetings, only one has exceeded a total close to 247 points; in 35 of those games, the combined score was below that figure. That is to say, no matter how cheerful the current offenses are, the scoring line is extremely high.

The two alternate brutal offensive spurts with stretches of disconnection, and their weaknesses intersect:

  • Portland suffers defending the perimeter, right where Chicago lives.
  • Chicago concedes too much in transition and second chances, just where Portland can punish with its offensive rebounding.

With those characteristics, it is very likely that we will see a high intensity game, but not necessarily an out-of-control score above 240 and a lot of points.

Trail Blazers vs Bulls Forecast

With all of the above on the table, the duel is shaping up to be more even than it seems. Chicago comes from a huge victory in Denver, but could be a bit relaxed after that "statement game". Portland, on the other hand, arrives wounded, at home and with the need to cut the streak of five straight losses to the Bulls.

The rebounding advantage, the home court factor and the presence of a veteran like Jrue Holiday tipping the scales on defense give Portland a slight edge to win the rematch.

Main forecast:

  • Combined point total under 247.5.
The history between the two and the fact that 35 of 36 previous meetings have stayed under a very similar number point to a high scoring game...but not an exorbitant one.

Complementary forecast (winner):

  • Portland Trail Blazers, in a close game decided by a short margin, supported by the rebounding and the energy of the crowd.

Nice game for the spectator, key for the table... and with interesting value in a high under and a possible night of local vindication.
